Lady’s Oceanus….Style, functionality and technology combined to create a stylish, good-looking watch that includes technology that impresses. Oceanus is the first watch to offer 5 motor technology combined with Atomic Solar technology.
Each of the 5 motors control a movement on the watch face. There is a motor for the second hand, chronograph, dual time, and 24 hour time. The new fifth motor controls a classic date display. (This replaces the function of the LCD screen found in the first generation models.)
The Atomic Solar technology means that Oceanus with the Multi-Band Atomic Timekeeping (US, Japan) feature receives time calibration radio signals that keep the displayed time accurate. The ‘auto receive’ function receives calibration 6 times per day. There is also a manual receive function. Additionally, the solar power feature means that the watch is powered by any light source (it doesn’t require sunlight to function) and has a long power reserves so you will never need to have the battery changed. This is not only convenient, but highly desirable (especially for diving watches, where seal replacement and pressure testing is required when changing the battery).
More details are located at Hamilton and Brewer
The Oceanus ladies five motor models come with Solid Stainless Steel cases – you select a Solid Stainless Steel or Leather band.
Motivated by the love of adventure and style, the Oceanus models, convey the ocean’s changing temperament – the full black case or shining silver case and band. Oceanus encompasses the new wave in high fashion – a timepiece that conveys individuality, creativity and making a bold statement about who you are. Plus, the design provides luxurious style and great features at a truly fine price

The Omega Story
The Omega watch story begins in 1848, when founder Louis Brandt began hand assembling key-wound precision pocket watches from parts supplied by local craftsmen in his principality La Chaux-de-Fonds, in the northwest corner of Switzerland. However, the Omega name didn’t appear until 1894, after Louis Brandt had passed away and his watchmaking traditions were taken over by his sons, Louis-Paul and Cesar Brandt. Omega watches have long been associated with glamorous screen and sports stars–the Omega Seamaster is famous for being the watch of choice for James Bond–with current ambassadors including Pierce Brosnan, Nicole Kidman, tennis player Anna Kournikova, and swimmers Michael Phelps and Ian Thorpe.
But Omega is more than just a fashionable watch. In 1965, the Omega Speedmaster chronograph was “flight-qualified by NASA for all manned space missions” as the only wristwatch to have withstood all of the U.S. space agency’s severe tests, including passing grades for extreme shocks, vibrations, and temperatures ranging from -18 to +93 degrees Celsius. The greatest moment in the Speedmaster’s history was undoubtedly 20 July 1969 at 02:56 GMT, when it recorded man’s first steps on the Moon’s surface as part of the Apollo 11 mission. Today, Omega is known for its rigorous testing of new movements, cases, and bands. Each new Omega movement is tested on the wrist in existing Omega models, while various laboratory tests are conducted to determine temperature-resistance, shock-resistance and vibration-resistance.

Man has always loved to be adorned with jewels. This led to jewelry developing as an industry. Jewelry is an ornament, for personal adornment. The word jewelry is an anglicized form of the Latin word, jocale which means plaything history says that about 40,000 years back, the first jewelry was worn by the Cro-Magnons, ancestors of Homo sapiens. Their jewelry included crude necklaces and bracelets made of bone, teeth and stone stitched to animal sinew. Recently excavated 100,000 year-old beads, made from Nassarius shells, are considered to be the oldest known jewelry.
Jewelry, earlier, was made for practical uses such as pinning of clothes together. Nowadays it is used not only for decoration but is also considered as a status symbol. There are different types of jewelry made today. New variations like art jewelry is known for its artistic ingenuity. Art here is valued more than the material. Inexpensive costume jewelry, made from inferior materials and the wire sculpture, made from either base metal wire and stones or precious metals and gemstones, are the other contemporary jewelry of present times.
Many pieces of jewelry, such as brooches were originally made for functional purposes are also symbolic. The Christian Cross or the Jewish Star is indicative of the religious faith that one follows. Married couples sport wedding rings.
In Ancient Egypt jewelry was first made around 3,000 to 5,000 years back. The Egyptians adored the shine, rarity, and workability of gold. The Egyptians had accumulated abundant gold from the deserts of Africa and later acquired more as tributes from captured kingdoms. In Egypt, jewelry soon symbolized power. The affluent class wore it not only in their lifetime but also after death, those were buried with them.
In Mesopotamia, jewelry was manufactured from metal inlaid with bright-coloured stones like agate, lapis, carnelian, and jasper. Their favourite shapes were leaves, spirals, cones, and bunches of grapes. It was created both to adorn humans and statues.
In Greece most of the jewelry was made of gold, silver, ivory, gems, bronze and clay. Later they adopted Asian designs following Alexander`s conquests. Initially influenced by European designs, the advent of the Roman rule in Greece, by 27 BC, brought significant changes.
Though influenced by Roman culture indigenous designs survived. The most common ornament of ancient Rome was the brooch, used to secure their flowing clothes together. They used gold, bronze, bone, glass beads and pearl. About 2,000 years back, they imported sapphires from Sri Lankan and diamonds from India. Emeralds and amber were used too.
The Italians earlier created clasps, necklaces, earrings and bracelets from crude gold. Even large pendants to store perfume were made. Known as the eastern successor of the Romans, the Byzantine Empire continued the Roman tradition though religious symbols became predominant. The people of Byzantine preferred light gold ornaments richly inlaid with gems. jewelry was mainly worn by wealthy ladies while men restricted themselves to a signet ring.
India has the longest continuous tradition of jewelry making. Around 1,500 BC the Indus Valley people made their earrings and necklaces of gold, beads other metals. Womenfolk wore clay and shell bracelets, usually painted black and loved tiaras, chokers, brooches and ear rings .Gradually, clay was replaced by glass and metals.
Jewelry had various functions to serve. Its main purpose, in ancient times, was to ward off evil. People have paid dowries with jewelry. It was also created to be used as currency for trading goods, evident from the use of slave beads. It also was a distinguishing mark between the ruler and the ruled. Asset value is still a consideration today.

The demand of jewellery is increasing day by day. People demand for Jewellery made of precious metals like Gold, Platinum and Silver. But the production of these metals are always limited, because these are natural elements, we cannot produce synthetic gold, platinum and silver by scientific methods. So, in that case we have to rely on natural reserves of Gold, Silver and other metals. Titanium is being used for Military purposes leaving very less amount for use in Jewellery manufacturing.
To solve this demand for metals, jewellery manufacturers started using alloys like White Gold and other precious metals like Palladium for exclusive set of people. They started making every kind of jewellery for different purposes made of White Gold, which is basically an alloy of gold with at least one white metal generally, Nickel or palladium. Although jewellery made of Palladium is also popular, and jewellery manufacturers were using this metal since long. These days, palladium consumption is not only limited into technical applications, it had become an industrial precious metal.
Although White Gold is ideal for jewellery making, but there is a mind set of consumers about alloys. They don’t want these mixtures if a better alternative is present. They prefer pure white metals like palladium. Palladium is a member of the platinum family and typically palladium jewelry products look similar to platinum. The shine of Palladium Jewellery is natural, and you don’t need to re polish them again and again to maintain its shine. Which means its natural glitter will never wear off.
There are two important factors behind popularity of Palladium. First, palladium is about half the density of platinum (12 g/cm3 vs. 21 g/cm3). Second feature is the ductile nature of Palladium, this features makes it easier for jewellery designers to mould palladium in their desired shape. Appearance-wise, platinum and palladium are very similar, but palladium is actually somewhat whiter. And it’s no duller – in fact, it’s easier to polish, but price is a factor. Everyone comes in wanting platinum, but only a quarter of them can actually afford it.
Although people are now loving Palladium Jewellery products, but there is a problem. In many European countries, such as the U.K., palladium is not recognized as a jewelry metal and cannot be hallmarked. Moreover, U.S. stamping laws place no restrictions on marketing palladium jewelry products in the U.S.

Generally speaking, wearing a diamond necklace is a sign of wealth as they are generally a very expensive item of jewellery. However, many people do in fact wear the diamond part of the necklace under clothing garments and therefore the significance of wearing them diminishes.
This was far from the case when Nicole Kidman turned up to the Oscars this year wearing what appeared to be the worlds biggest diamond necklace. Fortunately for her, the necklace was much nicer than her dress which was rather dull in all honesty. These types of events always seem to bring out all the expensive jewellery and this was no different at the 2006 Academy Awards when Jennifer Lopez brought out a Fred Leighton diamond necklace worth around $25,000.
As expensive as diamond necklaces can be, they are not all in the tens of thousands monetary value region. Stylish, elegant and exquisite diamond necklaces can be found up and down the high street at leading high street stores, for example at Ernest Jones prices start from as little as £75 http://www.ernestjones.co.uk/webstore/link/category/necklaces/stone+type/diamond/ ranging up to just short of £2000.
Diamond Necklaces
So whatever the price of a diamond necklace, they are still bought up right across the world. Many people do buy them as a sign of wealth to air their superiority and/or significance. They want to show all the on-lookers that they are the most important person in the room. However, diamond necklaces are also worn to make the person wearing them look nice too. The diamond necklace is a very powerful garment and is possibly one of the first things people notice on a person, especially in the case of Nicole Kidman whose diamond necklace was enormous.
A spent force? Not in you’re lifetime. Not in mine. Diamond necklaces will continue to be a popular item of jewellery for many years to come.

Pearl jewelry has shot to the top of the news recently, as Calvin Klein and his ex-wife decided to sell three pieces of famous natural-pearl and diamond jewelry. These lovely pieces, one which is a 14-inch necklace with 28 natural pearls, once was owned by the Dutchess of Windsor.
The pieces will be sold by auction at Sotheby’s in New York in December 2007. Estimates of the collection’s worth goes as high as $3.1 million. Klein originally paid $733,000 for the pieces at a Sotheby sale in 1987.
The pearls in this Windsor collection are from 16.8 to 9.2 mm in size and are completed by an oval clasp set with two emerald cut diamonds with a weight of 2 carats. There also are fancy shaped diamonds weighing 1 carat, which is bordered by 20 small round diamonds weighing .70 carat.
Other Klein pearl jewelry offerings at the upcoming auction will include a pearl and diamond pendant by Cartier and a pair of pearl earrings by Van Cleef & Arpels.
As can be seen with the estimated value of the Windsor pearls, natural pearls have appreciated significantly in value in the last 20 years. In April, the two-strand Indian “Baroda” pearl necklace brought $7.1 million at Christie’s International New York. This set a world record for natural pearl jewelry.
The premium prices and great fame of these particular pearl jewelry pieces highlight the high place pearl jewelry has in our consciousness. There are many outstanding places to purchase pearl jewelry. Some of the most famous types of pearls include Tahitian pearls and freshwater pearls.
Tahitian cultured pearls are a dramatic black color that comes from the black lips of the oyster. They are normally referred to as black pearls. However, the color of Tahitian pearls can range from graphite to beautiful metallic silver.
The beauty and high value of natural pearls makes it assured that a famous collection of these prized jewels will make headlines again soon!

Paying close attention to the accessories you wear to work is essential to your professional success. Accessories can play two roles – a benefit or a restraint. In the business arena, jewelry should not announce your arrival. In addition, cutesy jewelry should not be worn to work. Cutesy jewelry tends to distract coworkers, clients, and customers. Oversized earrings and chunky bracelets shove the focus from your presentation, which is in essence most important.
Small stud earrings are quick answer to questions about what jewelry to wear to work. Bling earrings should be worn on a date or to a party. Stacking bangles is a new trend. However, it is inappropriate for the workplace. Opt for a single bangle instead. Rings with large stones should be worn in more social settings. Stick with one ring on each hand. Avoid long, bulky necklaces. Closing your necklace in a drawer at work is not much fun. Test drive necklaces at home. If it gets caught in the door at home, don’t wear it.
Even more important is the maintenance of your jewelry. Take care to keep your jewelry in a clean, dry place. Avoid jumbling jewelry to prevent scratches. Place jewelry in fabric-lined jewelry boxes. Examine jewelry frequently for loose prongs, worn mountings, and general wear and tear. Jewelry should be cleaned professionally every six months. Avoid ultrasonic cleansers. Ultrasonic cleansers can damage some jewelry.
Follow these guidelines to achieve success:
1. Choose a conservative watch.
2. Choose jewelry, whose color compliments your coloring.
3. Avoid extreme styles and colors.
4. Keep your choices simple, yet elegant.
5. When in doubt, lean towards the conservative choice.
