Bracelets Jewellery

A bracelet is a piece of jewellery that can be as simple as a string of leather or as complex as an incrusted metal and gem jewellery. It appears that the origin of the word “bracelet” comes from a Latin word and an old French word that would simply mean “of the arm”.

Like any other type of jewellery, the history of bracelets is very old. The first bracelets are thought to actually have a religious and spiritual purpose, and people in Latin America used to wear them to protect them against the evil eye. They could actually be attached to the arm as well as the ankle. Bracelets were also used for decorative purpose and were certainly the most popular form of decoration in the ancient world. They would have been very big or thinner and more delicate with sometimes a zoomorphic end.

Bracelets can be in a smooth and flexible form or a more solid form like bangles.
Glass bangles are actually very popular in India where they are made from ordinary coloured glass. They would be worn stacked so the movement of the arm would cause them to make a nice sound.
On top of bangles, you could find other types of bracelets like charm bracelets, slap bracelets, beaded bracelets or even link bracelets. Another common form of bracelet is the friendship bracelet. It usually is a simple handmade bracelet with various styles that are given to a friend as a symbol. Those kind of bracelets first appeared in Central America.

In present days, bracelets can still hold a particular meaning and significance and can be used for various different purposes such as medical to describe the medical condition of a person or simply decorative.
It seems that one very popular type of bracelet is called the Cubetto bracelet. They usually are a fine type of jewellery that will be recognised for the way it is crafted. They can be made of gold, silver or even both metals.
But among handmade bracelets, the most common style of bracelet would be the link bracelet. Those types of bracelets include charm bracelets, military or simply identification bracelets.

Like in the ancient times, bracelets are still a very important piece of jewellery, and bracelets of any kind would obviously make a good gift, whether it is for a friend or for a person you love.
They obviously have to be chosen with a lot of care.

In Spain when men propose marriage to women and receive affirmation, they present them with traditional engagement rings - and then their fiancées often return the honor by presenting their men with men’s diamond watches. They are a type of designer-luxury item that one would not give every day, but for that once-in-a-lifetime gift that is more than just a bauble, diamond watches are ideal.

Watch History

Clocks and timepieces have been around almost as long as human history, but mechanical clocks are a fairly recent innovation, having come into existence only about 700 years ago. The closest thing to the modern mens diamond watch was a primitive device invented in Europe during the 1400s; the first watches were miniature versions of the same device, worn around the neck. As these shrank in size over the next two centuries, they eventually became the traditional pocket watch - an anachronism that many men still use.

The Ladies’ Diamond Watch

The first true wristwatches really were diamond watches. These were small timepieces integrated into actual diamond jewelry bracelets for women who were members of European royalty. Although 19th century jeweler Paket Phillipe et Cie is generally credited with creating the first true ladies’ diamond watch for Hungarian Countess Kosewitz in 1868, there are references to such “watch bracelets” dating back as far as 1572, when the Earl of Leicester presented Queen Elizabeth I with a round watch, inlaid with diamonds, which was suspended from a wristband. Most historians consider this to be the first ladies’ diamond watch.

The Mens’ Diamond Watch

Wrist watches were considered effeminate until around 1900; virtually all mens’ watches were pocket watches. The invention of heavier-than-air, motorized aircraft in 1903 changed all of that. The year following, French-Brazilian aviation pioneer Alberto Dumont-Santos found that he needed a timepiece that he could look at without removing his hands from the controls. The result was the first wristwatch for men; these convenient instruments soon superseded wrist watches in terms of popularity.

Diamond Watches Today

Since that time, three companies - one French, one Japanese and one Swiss - are best known for incorporating fine timepieces into diamond jewelry. Those three are Cartier, Citizens, and Movado. The latter company has been making watches for men since the early part of the last century; today, there are nearly 200 different models of mens’ and ladies’ diamond watches to choose from, many of which are among the finest diamond watches available on the market today.

Platinum Jewelry has become the most favored for people globally. There is great demand of jewelry products made of Platinum due to its stunning look and feel. Diamond Engagement Rings and weddings rings are no doubt a rage, but Platinum is present there too. Earlier Gold, and White Gold were base metals used in making of Diamond Rings. But we can see Platinum now in almost every designer Engagement and Wedding Rings. The reason behind this change in demand of Platinum rings is its exclusive finish and glow. Platinum is a more tensile and malleable element, making it ideal for rings and bands. Jewelers can make more ideal, flexible and attractive shapes for diamond engagement rings, and wedding bands now by using platinum as base metal.

Another reason for popularity of Platinum Rings and different Platinum jewelry products are its less reacting ability. You can wear Platinum rings and jewelries without any problem or fear of getting linings on your fingers and finger joints. You’ll never feel irritation due to wearing jewelry made of least reacting substances like Platinum. It is one of the most previous elements on earth. Platinum Jewelry comes on a heavy price, so it has become an exclusive way of flaunting wealth and fashion consciousness in society.

Ask people for their choice of jewelry, you’ll come to know that most of the people like to have Platinum jewelry in their collection. Specially, we can see the maximum use of platinum jewelry in making Engagement Rings and Wedding Bands with diamond and other precious stones as gems. Platinum provides more prospective for designing jewelry with creativity and uniqueness due to its chemical stability at odd situations, giving jewelry manufacturers and designers more ease while thinking for new jewelry designs.

Maximum use of Platinum is into making of Diamond Rings for all purposes, but Platinum bracelets, ear-rings, and exclusive designer watches are also gaining popularity. Earlier people were dependent on White Gold (Gold with Rhodium, Iridium and Nickel) for that exclusive look, but introduction of Platinum changed the scenario, and people with no constraint of money being spent on jewelry are choosing them. Although, Platinum Jewelry is still out of reach of people with medium earning range.

Child Mannequins for Kids Clothing Displays

Many of the same principles apply for children’s retail stores as with every other store display, but it is good idea to review those things and any differences in a children’s retail environment. Kid’s clothing is the most common product in kid’s stores. As a result, mannequins are a central display fixture that creates a fantastic sense of style and ambiance to a store.

Clothes on mannequins must be properly displayed in correct proportion with the right amount of stuffing. Tissue or plastic bags can be used to fill in a torso, legs, arms, shoulders, or any other body feature of a mannequin that displays a child’s garment. This kind of stuffing along with creative positioning will really bring life to child mannequins. Perhaps the mannequin assumes an action pose or has an arm around another buddy mannequin.

Layering merchandise is very popular for kid mannequins, turtlenecks under sweaters or colored shirts under open collars and vests. Customers like to see the full concept of a layered look, and layers are more popular for kids than they have ever been. Also, the concept of mannequin dressing is to display as many different products as possible while sticking to departmental or designated themes.

Child mannequin heads are also much more presentable with some type of decoration. For some reason a bare head on a child mannequins looks strange, so add some hair, a bow, or a hat. If you are not using hair, a bow on the front of a hat will help distinguish sex. Once the mannequins are dressed and posed, take a step back and make sure they are slightly angled off center. In most cases, mannequins should be slightly turned to one side or the other from the vantage of an approaching customer.

Because child mannequins are shorter, it is very helpful to have some type of fixture or platform that creates different levels of mannequin display. Arranged and stacked cubes work well to create multiple, interesting levels, while platforms will bring small mannequins to adult eye level.

Just like any other store display, lighting is a crucial component to children’s store displays. You may have the best mannequins, in the best positions, with the perfect clothes, but if they are not well lit, it is all waste. Lighting can really be the finishing touch to bringing great energy to a store display. It will feature store mannequins and make them stand out to customers, rather than blend in.

The use of child mannequins is one of the best strategies for clothing display in kid’s retail. They really help parents to picture the clothing as it appears when worn, and increase the likelihood of a purchase. Don’t let these amazing fixtures go to waste by neglecting proper stuffing, positioning, dressing, and accessories.

Jewelry is a most important part of fashion from the very long days. In the past it is worn as a status symbol, as well as to keep the womens safe from evils. Early in history, jewelry was a mark of status of some sort. Perhaps the only people who could wear it were of religious importance, or perhaps they were the only people who could afford it. You’ll find that even though the handmade beaded jewelry from early eras seems primitive to our eyes that it was still crafted with care. For instance, the twisted torques, close fitting necklaces that were worn by the Celts, was often a sign of both manhood and wealth. Later on, jewelry was a mark of privilege and leisure; it was a show that not only could you afford to feed yourself and your loved ones, but that you could spend a lot of extra money on beautiful things. During the Victorian age in Europe, handmade beaded jewelry started taking the shapes that would be very familiar to those of us who wear jewelry today.

The Victorian era had a very strong interest in death and funerary arts, though, and this was often eerily represented in so-called mourning jewelry, where people would snip hair from their departed loved ones and weave it into lockets, broaches and rings. Sometimes this jewelry would get very elaborate and it could be quite beautiful, especially when different shades of hair were used. The beginning of the twentieth century saw the beginning of fashion jewelry. Costume jewelry, far from being as cheap or as disposable as the name implies, was actually meant to be jewelry that complemented one particular outfit. Various precious metals and gems could -and often did!- go into the production of costume jewelry. Today, we are experiencing a real renaissance as far as jewelry goes, and whether you love fine handmade beaded jewelry or simply love adorning yourself with something new every day. Take a look and see what sort of impact the right piece of jewelry can have on you! Feel sexy, alluring and provocative! Discover custom handmade jewelry designed to enhance your individuality and compliment your beauty. Go now and indulge yourself with affordable uncommonly unique Fashion handmade Beaded Jewelry. Handmade beaded jewelry has now become a full-fledged industry wherein the brands have plunged to carve a niche. So its time to get your beads out and start making your own beaded jewelry.

Beautiful jewelry is something one can never have enough; well, I am sure most women would agree with me on this point. If you enjoy wearing jewelry as much as I do, I am sure you must be having enough to start off your own jewelry shop by now! I love going through boutiques for designer jewelry and scrounging around in markets for unique jewelry pieces as well. The markets can have loads of designs in store for you and if you lucky enough, with some amount of haggling, you can be the proud owner of some unique jewelry without really spending too much! But there is one area that I have explored and that is wearing unique handmade jewelry. Such handmade jewelry is a great option as it is easy on the pocket and you can create stunning pieces of jewelry by exercising your mind! Wearing unique handmade jewelry gives one the satisfaction of wearing an exclusive piece! This can also make a very stylish and personalized gift as well. You must note that there are three basic techniques when you are dealing with unique handmade jewelry. The first is where you string the beads; the kind of string you use will depend upon what you are planning to design. To keep a distance between the beads, one can make the use of knots or crimps. Wire is also used to make unique kind of jewelry. Here, beads are used in combination to create snazzy designs. Bead weaving is another technique where in, really tiny beads are interwoven and threaded to make small but intricate patterns.

New Trends: Men’s Diamond Rings

When it comes to wedding pieces, men’s diamond rings represent a fairly recent innovation. Prior to the late 19th Century, most men did not even wear a wedding band; diamond rings for women existed, but were exceedingly rare. The jewelry industry, trying to create a market where non existed, managed to sell the public on the idea of double diamond ring wedding sets, but the wedding rings themselves were plain gold bands more often than not. It was only after 1950 that mens diamond rings became popular.

The Most Brilliant Marketing Campaign

“Diamonds are forever.” That simple phrase practically transformed the diamond ring market overnight. It was a phrase that was invented by an unknown advertising executive for the DeBeers Corporation, which to this day controls well over half of the world diamond trade. The campaign was rolled out in 1950; within a few years, diamond jewelers could barely keep up with the demand for diamond rings - including mens diamond rings.

Choices

Today, double diamond ring wedding sets are quite common; some even include the engagement ring as well.

When it comes to mens diamond rings, there are many options out there in terms of style, cut, and type of metal. White gold diamond rings are the most popular choice, followed by yellow and red gold. Recently, platinum, palladium and even tungsten diamond rings are available. Not only are these precious metals more valuable than gold, but are far more durable, as gold is a fairly soft metal.

At least one prominent company specializes in these types of rings, from which the center stone is left unmounted, so as to allow the customer to choose the diamond or other gem s/he prefers.

In other cases, one may be able to actually design their own individual rings with the assistance of a diamond jeweler. Such services may cost extra, but the client is assured of getting a completely unique piece of jewelry.

How Much To Spend

Diamond wedding sets vary widely in terms of price, from a few hundred dollars to several thousands. The general rule of thumb is to figure on about six months’ salary as the amount to spend on the wedding set, including the engagement ring. In addition, many couples now exchange “promise rings” at or near the beginning of a relationship, as well as “eternity rings,” which are typically exchanged at a later wedding anniversary. Mens diamond rings are available for these occasions as well as the engagement and the actual wedding.

The Story of Diamond Wedding Rings

Author: Jonathan Blocker

The diamond wedding ring set is a fairly recent phenomenon; up until about sixty years ago, most married couples wore simple gold bands. Today, the diamond wedding ring set is fairly common. There are even diamond wedding bands for those who prefer these to diamond wedding rings that have a set stone in them.

The Story of Diamond Jewelry

Diamond jewelry has been enjoyed and desired for centuries. However, it wasn’t until about 500 years ago that the art and science of diamond cutting was born. Most of the stones that find their way into diamond wedding rings are cut and appraised in the Belgian city of Antwerp, which has been the center of the diamond business since the mid-1500s.

The DeBeers Company - formed in the 1880s by Sir Cecil Rhodes, for whom the African colony was Rhodesia (now independent Zimbabwe and Zambia) was named - was instrumental in creating an artificial market for diamond jewelry, particularly diamond wedding ring sets, where none had existed previously. It is true that Archduke Maximilian I of Austria presented his bride, Marie of Burgundy with a diamond wedding ring on the occasion of their wedding in 1477, but that did not set a general precedent. That precedent had to wait another 423 years.

“Diamonds Are Forever”

The phrase “a diamond is forever,” became the basis not only of a James Bond novel by Ian Fleming and the movie and hit song that came out of it, but of the most brilliant advertising campaign of all time. The DeBeers Company used this phrase to convince the public to abandon the plain gold bands that had been traditional for married couples for centuries, and embrace their line on fashion-designed diamond wedding ring sets.

The campaign was remarkably successful; within only a few years, plain gold bands had been replaced by diamond wedding bands and rings with set stones.
A similar campaign was undertaken by the U.S. diamond jewelry industry; the market was targeted toward those couples planning to wed. The idea was to convince the American public of an “old tradition” in which men wore diamond engagement rings as well as their fiancées. This particular campaign was rather less successful, but it did help to increase the popularity of diamond wedding rings among American couples.

Diamond Jewelry Today

Diamonds in the rough are shipped to one of the major diamond centers in Antwerp, Tel Aviv, New York, London or Singapore, where they are graded and cut; after this, they undergo an appraisal for carat (size and weight), color, clarity and cut. After this, jewelers purchase these stones in lots and use them as settings for diamond wedding rings and other types of jewelry.

Rolex Watch History

The Rolex SA company was founded in 1905 by Mr. Hans Wilsdorf and his brother-in-law, Mr. Alfred Davis. Contrary to popular belief, Hans Wilsdorf was neither Swiss, nor a watchmaker. Wilsdorf & Davis was the original name of what later became the Rolex Watch Company. They originally imported Hermann Aegler’s Swiss movements to England and placed them in quality cases made by Dennison and others. These early wristwatches were then sold to jewelers, who then put their own names on the dial. The earliest watches from the firm of Wilsdorf and Davis are usually marked “W&D” – inside the case back only.

Hans Wilsdorf registered the trademark name “Rolex” in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland during 1908. The word was made up, but its origin is obscure. One story, which was never confirmed by Wilsdorf, is that the word “Rolex” came from the French phrase horlogerie exquise, meaning exquisite watch industry.

The Wilsdorf & Davis company moved out of Great Britain in 1912. Wilsdorf wanted his watches to be affordable, but taxes and export duties on the case metals (silver and gold) were driving costs up. From that time to the present, Rolex has been headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, though the company owns facilities in other cities (Bienne, etc) and continents (North America, Asia, Australia, etc).

The company name Rolex was officially registered on 15 November 1915. It is thought this change was part of a drive to popularize wristwatches, which at the time were still considered a novelty largely for women (pocket watches were more common). Wilsdorf was said to desire his watch brand’s name to be easily pronounceable in any language. The company name was officially changed to the Rolex Watch Company during 1919. It was later changed to Montres Rolex, SA and finally Rolex, SA.

Rolex SA is a foundation initiated and originally funded by Hans Wilsdorf and the Aegler family. According to foundation documentation, the Rolex SA company can never be sold, nor traded on any stock market.
