Once you’ve written your E-Book, got your Website up and integrated your shopping cart, you can sit back and start waiting for the money to come rolling in, right?
WRONG!
These days it’s getting harder than ever before to be able to get people to notice you - and just because “you build it” doesn’t mean they’re going to come.
So what’s an author to do?
Actually, thanks to all the tools that are available to you - including Web 2.0 - marketing your book - and ramping up your sales - is not as hard as you might think.
In fact, here are a few ideas to get your juices flowing. Add them to your sales plan, and use them as a jumping off place to help you make even more sales.
Create a long-term plan before you write even one word of your first book. The truth of the matter is that you’re probably never going to get rich from writing one E-book. So before you start writing your first book, start thinking about your second book. And the first product that will tie into your first book. And the second. And then the third.
Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Come up with as many different income streams as you can and plan to build them into your plan. For example, can you create a workbook from your E-book? What about recording some audio files that go into further details or give more information. What about doing a joint venture with other experts in your industry?
Sell more books at one time. If your book covers any one of a number of popular subjects - self-help or development, home improvement, business, religion - there are probably corporations, organizations or niche markets that are always on the look-out for inexpensive gifts or bonuses for their employees, clients or associates. Your book could be just the ticket. Although you might have to go down in price - what do you think sounds better? Selling one or two books at a time or selling box loads of them?
Once you’ve built up your credibility as a published author, it’s time to take things to the next level. Have you ever dreamed of attending seminars or workshops as a presenter? What about having a speaking career and being flown all over the world speaking to people in your niche market? If you don’t like traveling or crowds, consider putting together teleseminars or holding intimate bootcamps.
Create joint ventures. This is the fastest and easiest way to leverage your expertise and start raking in the cash. Find people who are in similar - but not competing industries as yours. Explore ways for you to provide value to both of your customers while you’re cross-selling or upselling. For example, if you own a restaurant, what about creating a special Valentine’s Day promotion with the local florist. Offer free drinks or desserts to any of the florist’s customers who bring in a special card (that you’ve provided to them) when they come to your restaurant. And your joint venture partner (the florist) gives you roses or carnations that can be given out to any women when their companion gives you the special dessert card. See how simple that is? Real value that makes your customers happy, and builds loyalty and trust - and positions both of you as the first people your customers think of when they need flowers or want a romantic restaurant or a place to eat during a special occasion

You have now completed writing your E-Book, you have uploaded it to your Website, the payment processors are in place and after all that hard and time consuming work, it’s now time to sit back and wait to enjoy the remunerations that will shortly start rolling in.
Nothing could be further from reality and disappointment will hit in a very short period of time.
Getting noticed on-line requires some smarts so don’t believe that because all of the hard work you have just expended to get this product ready for sale, is a surety that the eager masses will arrive with credit cards in hand, because that simply won’t happen.
So what would be the next move?
There are many tools available on the web that could assist in marketing your book and ramping up your sales. These tools are used for many on-line promotions and are readily available.
Here are a few ways to get you started and when implemented will help you increase your sales
Now like all well thought out businesses, and before starting on any venture, the very first thing to do is create a long term plan. This being your first book, what about the second, third, fourth etc. Start the juices flowing as to where you are aiming to be with your on-line business in the next 5 years, 4 years, 3 years etc.
Consider diversification by not putting all your eggs in one basket. Try to establish several different income streams and put them into your long term plan. How about using audio and video to relay your informaton, just like the gurus are now doing. Securing Joint Ventures with industry experts would really push the volume of sales along. More on this later in this article.
Volume retailing could be achieved if your book details any of the popular subjects like, How To or Business or Self Improvement etc. where certain organizations or corporations would be interested in volume purchasing from you to give as a gift to their clients or employees or associates. Volume purchasing would require you to lower the per item price to a wholesale price but the you are now selling many to one customer as opposed to one or two at a time.
Credibility has to be earned and once this has been established as an author, maybe consider moving up to the next level. There is a lot of money to be made running seminars or coaching workshops or being a presenter at a seminar. These workshops and seminars are being held globally and if you have a niche market that appeals to the masses you should consider this as a viable extension to your business.
Create Joint Ventures. This is the fastest way to bring in sales because the person(s) you JV with will introduce your product to their opt-in list and many of these lists are many thousand strong. These JVs should be in a similar industry as yours and non competing of course. However joint ventures are exactly what the name implies, both parties contribute to achieve the end result, sales.
There are many courses on-line which go into great detail as to how joint ventures are put together and outlining the many ways these can be set up. It may be well worth the time and expense to invest in one of these courses because it can be quite involved, especially for the novice marketer

Man has a desire to get frightened. This is evident from the ghost stories told and retold over centuries. This desire to get frightened had given birth to thousands of horror stories over ages. Almost all the languages around the globe have a particular section of literature called horror literature which has gained prominence in the past few decades. Most often, horror stories are called fiction as they carry imaginary stories revolving around supernatural powers, evil forces and black magic.
The fiction intended to scare, unsettle or horrify the audience gained popularity as literature since the 1960s. This type of fiction often overlaps science fiction or fantasy and is also called speculative or supernatural fiction. In most of the big cities there are horror book store that sell books based on horror fiction.
Even though not as a polished literary form, the horror stories prevailed years back as tales of demons and vampires in folklores. But as a literature it gained popularity in the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The Castle of Otranto by Horace Walpole, The Mysteries of Udolpho by Ann Radcliffe and Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein were the famous horror fiction books of the nineteenth century. The first American horror novel was The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irvin. Edgar Allen Poe, H.P. Lovecraft and M.R. James were some of the finest ghost stories writers of English language.
The contemporary horror books have moved way for extreme violence or shock to entertain the readers. The horror books by Ramsey Campbell and Thomas Ligotti have widely been accepted by the readers. The expansion of horror literature to a wider audience took place in the 1920’s with the rise of the American pulp magazine. The book Weird Tales depicted many stories by Lovecraft, Clark Ashton Smith, E. Hoffmann Price, Seabury Quinn, C.M. Eddy, Jr. and Robert Bloch, thereby making horror literature much popular.
Many critics consider “The Metamorphosis,” “In the Penal Colony” by Franz Kafka and “A Rose for Emily,” by William Faulkner as some of the best horror books in literature. Bram Stoker, Peter Straub, R.L. Stine and Ray Bradbury fall into the category of some of the finest horror writers of the English language

How do you get started writing an E-book, and what are some of the ways to format and publish your book?
First, organize your ideas. Write an outline and come up with basic topics. Who is your audience? What is your target market? What format do you want to publish in - do you plan on including illustrations in your E-book? Do you want to write the book and then have an online publisher take care of everything else, or can you handle it all (from publishing to marketing) on your own? Once you’ve figured all this out, start writing!
Software
Most E-books are written in Word first and then converted to another format. If you want to concentrate on writing content and can’t be bothered with formatting or conversion issues, you can hire a company to convert the file for you. However, the fees for such a service can be quite hefty and it’s not difficult to convert the Word file yourself.
Sometimes formatting can be more complicated than simply converting a Word file to PDF format. For readers who want to read your E-book on their browser, you’ll have to make use of E-book compiler software. If you plan on using compiler software for formatting, you write the book in Word (or even in HTML) and then run the text through the program, which creates a stand-alone application that readers can download, click to open, and read right on their screen. They won’t need any extra programs to read the E-book, so this may allow you to reach a wider audience.
Plus, this type of software is very easy to use and it’s inexpensive. The only disadvantage is that some Mac users may not have the capabilities to read the book. Simply search for this type of software online. A quick search should come up with a wide range of suitable programs.
Hiring outside help
So you’ve decided to hire a company to convert and format your E-book. There are, as mentioned above, several ways to go about this part of the process. If you decide to spend the extra money and have a company do the formatting and conversion, select a business that offers more than just simple file conversion. Look for companies that will design your cover, and help with marketing strategies. In addition to an initial fee, however, you may be required to share royalties. Remember, if you do all the work yourself, you get a 100% share of the profits!
Publishing is the next step. You can work with a publisher that will help you with distribution, or go it alone to save some money. The advantage of a publisher is that they offer services, such as editing, that may help you sell more E-books. At the same time, doing everything without outside help is more cost-effective. There are many avenues of opportunity for people who want to publish an E-book without the help of a publishing company it’s a viable option you should seriously consider.

Marketing Funnel is the infrastructure or foundation of your business. It allows you to multiply your income by marketing your products and services, so you can build the business your really want and live the life you deserve.
Many Solo-Entrepreneurs get caught in the trap of working hour fordollars, so they only get paid when they work. We want to show you a much easier way to convert prospects into customers for life so you can create products that produce passive income.
Imagine a funnel with the wide end at the top and the narrow end at the bottom. You want to get as many people as possible into your funnel at the top and guide them through to the very bottom. Here’s how you do this.
1) Offer a free item such as an ebook, report, audio class on your site, blog or through your ezines and landing pages.
2) Once you’ve got their information start upselling them into low and mid-priced products or services such as a 1 day bootcamp,
teleseminar, manual.
3) Continue to upsell customers into high end coaching programs, retreats, products.
The aim is to get as many prospects as possible at the top using various lead generation efforts and out of those, create loyal
customers who will pay for a membership continuity program and big pay days.
You need multiple streams of income to thrive as a business owner, so you must also create products out of everything you do that you can sell all the time on your sites.
For example: You sell a teleseminar series. After the series is recorded, you can have each call transcribed and sell the cds with
the manual for a higher price point.
A well designed funnel helps you to create and sell information marketing products. These are products created out of material that you document or record to be repackaged and sold to customers.
Not everyone will follow you through the funnel from beginning to end, in fact, only a few will, but these will be high paying customers who will make you more money in the end. Some prospects will never get past the Free items on offer, but that’s ok because you don’t want those tire kickers anyway. Others will never spend more than a certain amount with you, but they might do this for years to come!
What’s in your marketing funnel? Take out a sheet of paper, draw a funnel shape and list the products and services you offer. Do you see any gaps in your offerings from Free to high priced? Figure out what you can do to fill these gaps and offer a range of pricing options.
This is a great exercise to see your business assets at a glance, and begin to build on them and multiply your income.

Ebooks are a revolutionary way to publish your book without incurring the costs of print production. All you need is a relevant and targeted subject and some inexpensive software, and you can transform your manuscript into a book.
The problem, in terms of actually seeing any profits from your ebook, is that the market is overwhelmed with ebooks, and many of them are not worth the time it takes to download them. Just because the ability exists to easily produce an ebook, doesn’t make it good writing.
Make sure your book does not simply rehash old material. You will injure your credibility as an author by claiming to offer valuable new insights and disappointing your audience with material they’ve read a zillion times before. So spend enough time writing and revising your book to make sure it’s of the highest quality and presents the most current information. A good book will eventually sell itself; false claims about your book will make it extremely difficult to sell any future books you may write.
Assuming you have determined that you do indeed have a quality product that answers some question or need of your target audience with NEW information, how do you know how much to charge for it?
Rule number 1: Set a price for your book equal to its value. An under-priced book will only give the impression that your book isn’t worth very much. To figure out a fair price, estimate how much time you put into creating it and how difficult it was to transform the necessary information into understandable and engaging writing. Figure out how much your time and effort is worth, and then price it accordingly. The goal is for you to be adequately compensated for your talent, your time, and your effort.
Once you’ve figured out a price that is high enough to convey the value of the book, but not so high as to be out of the reach of your target audience’s mean budget, then it’s time to offer it for sale on your website. To attract sales, you will need to develop a promotional campaign, particularly if you are an unknown author. There are multitudes of books about self-promotion that will guide you in your efforts. Choose a plan that is both creative and professional.
Learn how to write a catchy yet informative press release, and send copies of your ebook to sites that specialize in ebook reviews. Learn how to write powerful sales copy, or hire someone to write it for you. This is an essential. You absolutely need excellent sales copy to sell your book. Make sure the copy includes all the reasons your target audience needs your book, and the benefits they will derive from buying it.
Use graphics in your promotional materials. Beautiful graphics have the power to instantly convey the quality and value of your ebook. Graphics can also convey the amount of valuable information the book contains, and your careful attention to detail. Professional graphics sell professional books. They reassure the customer that the product is what it claims to be.
Consider excerpting chapters for articles. You can offer these titbits for free on your website as a sort of demo of your book. Include an order form for your ebook at the end of the excerpted articles. Finally, when you set-up your download link, make sure to simplify the process.
It’s a good idea to offer a few bonuses that make your book even more enticing to purchase, but make sure the bonuses are valuable and high quality. Too many bonuses that are basically a load of useless stuff will compromise the impression your audience has of your ebook. The goal is to convey to your audience that they are getting a quality product for a good deal. That means applying restraint, especially when it comes to adding bonus items. Too much free stuff offered diminishes your credibility.
Make sure your book is a quality product. Make sure it is relevant and current. Develop an effective marketing plan that includes excellent sales copy and excerpted articles. Then offer your book for sale, and wait for your audience to discover you!

The key that unlocks the sales potential of your ebook is to find a single sentence that becomes your selling handle. This sentence states what question or problem your book answers and the benefits your ebook can provide. Then be sure to use that sentence in every piece of sales and promotional material, and every time anyone asks you about your ebook.
Besides promoting your books assiduously online, there are several other strategies that can help you sell more books. One is to give something away for free with your book, such as a valuable bonus item. Or bundle several ebooks under one price, which lowers the price for each ebook if they were sold separately.
An effective technique for figuring out a price is to send out a survey to your current customers. If these customers have already bought an ebook from you, ask for their opinion in terms of price. Do this by creating a sales page for the new book, but don’t include a price on that page.
Instead, add a number of links to survey questions that ask pointed questions to aid you in assigning a price to your ebook.
Another strategy is to test out prices by creating a number of duplicate sales pages with different prices on each page. Make sure your sales copy is exactly the same on every page, and includes your selling-handle sentence. Then figure out for each page the conversion ratio between visitors to your site and sales of your book. This will tell you what your optimum price is.
Ultimately, if you’ve written a book that solves a problem or presents a new technique, your book will bring in both traffic and profits. So be sure to write that selling-handle sentence that sums up what problem your book solves and what the benefits of your book will be to the customers who purchase it. And then watch your market come to you!
Getting your e-book noticed
The best way to get your ebook noticed online is by submitting short articles to article websites. At the end of the article you include a link to your website sales page. Readers of the article know where to go if they want to read more. You can base your articles on individual chapters of your ebook, or key themes, effectively putting bait on the hook so the reader will want to know more.
Submitting articles about your ebook will also get you website noticed by the search engines like Google or Yahoo, as they trawl these sites. The more articles you submit the higher your search engine ranking will climb.
There are some great resources available to help you with article marketing. There are also hundreds of article websites, and submitting your article can be a time consuming process.

As your first ebooks nears completion, you begin to figure out ways to spend those big bucks you will be raking in. Hmm… Maybe you’ll buy that house on the beach.
Many people believe the hype from that old movie; “If you write it, they will come.” Unfortunately, it ain’t so! Your book will not generate traffic and buyers out of thin air. You have to market your ebook. You have to let people know about it, build anticipation for it, and market the heck out of it.
But what is the best way to market a new ebook? It is best to use a variety of different techniques. Don’t use just one method, diversify. If you use just one marketing method, you will reach a very limited amount of buyers. If you use four different marketing programs, you will reach three to four times as many people, and I can almost assure you, some of them will be interested in your ebook.
I like to write articles to promote my products. Although it is my primary marketing technique, it is not the only one that I use. Include a resource box that contains three links with every article you write. One of the links directs the reader to my squeeze page. This is an important factor in building my list. The other links point to one of my ebooks or another product that I am promoting. Submit at least three articles each week to the ten largest article directories. Better yet, submit one or more articles every day to maximize your article marketing campaign.
Use free and paid ads to market your ebook. By doing search, you will find many ad sources available in this area. Solo ads, if marketed to the right list, can also be very effective. Use a number of different headlines and copy in your ads. Make sure to test the results from each ad variation to determine which performs best. Then, each week, eliminate the weakest performing ad and replace it with a new ad or the best performer.
In part 2, I will cover additional marketing techniques.

Many people who are new to ebook writing believe that all you have to do is write an ebook, then sit back and count the money as it comes in. Unfortunately, nothing could be farther from the truth. To generate substantial ebook sales, you have to work hard at a solid marketing campaign. And the best marketing techniques involve the use of a number of different marketing programs.
In Part 1 of this article, I covered the importance of diversifying your marketing campaigns. In this section, I will discuss several other marketing programs that you should use to maximize sales of your ebook.
In addition to articles, free ads, and solo ads, which were covered in part 1, you should consider using one or more of the pay-per-click (PPC) programs. Google, MSN, and Yahoo are among the three largest providers but you can find many others by doing a search. Don’t discount using the smaller PPC providers. Although the smaller providers will not bring in as much traffic as the larger companies, their prices can often be significantly less. When using any type of PPC program, it is important to do your research and set a maximum amount that you are willing to spend per day. Horror stories abound on the Internet about the poor sap who made no sales but racked up several thousand in PPC charges. So, make sure you set limits on the amount you will commit each day.
Forums can also be a very effective vehicle to market your first ebook. Register with ten to twenty of the largest forums and develop a good signature file that promotes your ebook. Each day, enter eight to ten postings on EACH of the forums that you registered with. Make sure that your postings provide real information. Do not just reply to someone by saying, “Good idea.” By providing good information on a regular basis, people will come to see you as an expert in your field and you will gain credibility.
The final marketing technique that I will cover is email marketing. I think that it goes without saying that you should never send out spam, but targeted email to your list can b an effective method to generate sales. Most people will not buy a product until they’ve been exposed to it five to seven times. For that reason, you should develop a five to seven part email (providing good information) promoting your ebook. This can be an extremely effective technique.
Of course, there are thousands of other marketing techniques available; these are just a few of them. The point is, use a number of different methods. That way, you increase the exposure of your ebook exponentially. Good luck!

With more and more people accessing electronic information via electronic book readers, PC’s and laptops, this is the age of the ebook. And the great thing about ebooks is that they are not just restricted to words. You an easily include images, videos, links to external websites, music, the possibilities are endless. And all of this increases the experience of the reader.
Of course, you do still need the writing, and it is important that its style and layout helps the reader get your message.
You must figure out how to keep your writing engaging. Often anecdotes, testimonials, little stories, photos, graphs, advice, and tips will keep the reader turning the pages.
Write with a casual, conversational tone rather than a formal tone such as textbook diction. Reader’s respond to the feeling that you are having a
conversation with them. You don’t necessarily have to write from a third party point of you, you can refer to I and you. Break up the length and structure of your sentences so you do not send your readers to sleep.
In an ebook that is read on the screen, be aware that you must give your reader’s eye a break. You can do this by using white space. Use plenty of white space. You can have wider margins than normal, double line spacing and larger spaces between paragraphs. Unlike a real book, you don’t need to worry about saving paper.
Make use of lists, both bulleted and numbered. This makes your information easy to absorb, and gives the reader a mental break from dissecting your paragraphs one after the other.
Finally, decide on an easy-to-read design. Find a font that’s easy on the eyes, and stick to that font family. It is a big mistake to change fonts every paragraph as this subconsciously confuses the reader.
Of course, don’t forget to run a spell and grammar check, and ask someone, with a keen eye for detail to proof read it for you.
Last of all, create a contents page, index and bibliography. Make sure your page numbers on the contents page are correct. You could provide links to each chapter from the contents page. You do this by adding bookmarks at the start of each chapter and then using the select hyperlink option in your word processor, link to the relevant bookmark.
That’s it! You’ve written a book!
Now all you have to do is publish your ebook online, and wait for download requests from your website visitors.
