NY hack license is the term used that describes the license needed to drive a New York City taxi. Officially, the NY hack license is called a New York City taxi operators license and it is issued by the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission. This license is good for all five boroughs and having it allows the driver to operate a yellow medallion taxi cab.
In New York City, only a yellow medallion taxi cab is allowed to pick up passengers on the street. To operate a taxi cab, you must possess a taxi drivers license. You must apply for this license through the Taxi and Limousine Commission.
The licenses issued through this agency for car service or limousines do not cover the operation of a yellow taxi cab. On the other hand, having the hack license allows the holder to operate a car service or limousine. Because of this, the NY hack license is the most prestigious and valuable of all the operator licenses issued by the Taxi and Limousine Commission.
Those who are interested in getting this taxi drivers license often want to know what the requirements are. The requirements are that you must be at least nineteen years old and possess a New York State drivers license that is either a Class A, B, C or E. Your drivers license will be accepted if you have a comparable drivers license from Connecticut, Pennsylvania or New Jersey.
The majority of licenses in the State of New York are Class D. If you wish to upgrade from a Class D to a Class E, you need to go to the Department of Motor Vehicles and pay the required upgrade fee. There are no tests involved but you must be prepared to pay about fifty dollars for the fee.
If you are interested in getting a NY hack license, make sure you have no unpaid parking tickets or traffic summons. If you owe the city fees for parking or traffic violations, you must either have paid them or you must have a documented settlement agreement with whatever department is responsible. This proof must be submitted to the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission with your application.
Another requirement is that you must be a citizen or a legal resident of the United States.
All applicants for the NY hack license need to attend a state certified six-hour defensive driving course. The course must have been completed no longer than six months before the date on your application.
Besides the training and status requirements, you must meet a medical requirement. The medical form is titled Form B and is part of the taxi drivers application. This form must be completed by a licensed physician.
You must submit your application for a NY hack license in person at the Taxi and Limousine Commission, which is located at 32-02 Queens Blvd, Long Island City. Their hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm.
They also have a location on Staten Island where you can turn in your application. This location is open on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday only. The address is 1893 Richmond Terrace, Staten Island. You must make an appointment at this location to have your application accepted. Call for an appointment at 212-227-6324.
There is an application fee of sixty dollars which must be paid at the time of submission. You must pay with a money order made payable to the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission.
When you apply, you must also pay a fee for fingerprinting which costs seventy-five dollars. Again, this fee must be paid by money order made out to the N.Y.S.D.C.J.S.
NY hack license applicants must pass a test for illicit drugs. If you do not complete or pass this test, you will not get your license. The approved drug testing location for taxi driving applicants is found at 31-00 47th Avenue, Long Island City.
This drug testing center is open for business Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. You will pay for the test at the time it is performed with a money order payable to Lab Corp, Inc. Anyone applying for the NY hack license that fails the drug test will be sent to a licensing standards hearing run by the Taxi and Limousine Commission.
Another of the requirements is that you will need to complete mandatory classroom training in subjects related to driving a yellow cab in the city. There are city-approved training facilities that hold these classes. You will learn about the important city landmarks, tunnels, bridges and highways that you need to know well to be able to drive a yellow cab with success.
Having the license to drive a yellow cab can provide an interesting and financially rewarding job to persons who are not afraid of long hours of challenging work.

Some say that it’s “Not where you begin, but where you end.” While I agree with the last part of that statement, nothing could be further from the truth than the first part. IF you believe that we were created by a Creator and that He formed us for a PURPOSE: then to do something other than that purpose would be a waste of time. If there is truly a purpose, then the faster we tap into that purpose the more successful we will be. In other words, we have to follow the PLAN. We have to conform to the MOLD!
“The BEGINNING is half of the whole.” Greek Proverb
An important Greek word is “arche” (SC 746) which is translated BEGINNING. It also carries with it the interpretation of : corner, first, principality, and rule! You see when you BEGIN life as God intended us to walk it, you RULE, you turn the CORNER in life! This principle is so important that Stephen Covey made it one of his “Seven Habits” for the highly effec- tive person (habit # 2). A carpenters tradition (even beyond Jesus) is that you “measure twice and cut once.” Or, as the Roman and Greek philosophers put it, “all things must be created twice”. You see and create them in your MIND and then they are transferred to the natural. However, if you are trying to follow some pattern or blueprint that’s not yours to begin with then you won’t get the same results.
“I start where the last man left off.” Thomas Edison
We are to build generationally and that’s not just with our nuclear family. When you take a job, you are following those that have gone before. You are building on top of what they have built. From time to time we have to tear down some things that have been built but they are not wasted because they show is what we’re NOT TO DO! If we want to be PROMOTED, we have to utilize every advantage possible. We don’t usually have time to recreate a thing (though at times we must). So, we must have active imaginations, be able to visualize, and quickly discern what it is that we’re to be doing here on earth. What’s our destiny, our purpose, passion, and calling? Unfortunately, 67% of the people in America don’t feel they’ve found it (and some are over 60 years of age).
You need to stay on the cutting edge.
As important as is our occupation, we must ask our self this question on all ventures or turns in life. When you get in car, where are you going (begin with end in mind). When you meet someone for the first time, you need to ask yourself, where is this going and where SHOULD it go- if anywhere! When you go to a party, decide to have lunch, the question COULD be asked. Is there something that we do that we should not wonder about WHERE IT ENDS? Is this not why it’s said. “Don’t date anyone you don’t want to marry.”
Wendell Phillips came close to the concept when he said, “It is only liquid currents of thought that move men and the world.” It’s the water of the Holy Spirit that empowers us whether we acknowledge it or not. We can call it any number of things (as we do) but, IDEAS HAVE CONSEQUENCES! And, only the ideas of PLANS which were put into us in the beginning before the foundation of time that work! Stay flexible and balanced.

Great ABILITIES produce great VICES as well as VIRTUES.” Greek Proverb
Admission is (weaknesses) not the same as enjoying or embracing something. Major traumas or sickness is usually accompanied initially with DENIAL! And, eventually denial will give way to the reality of what is or has happened. The reason denial has to give way to reality is that we cannot GO ON until we have seen and confess TRUTH! You can’t have a weak heart. There is no free promotion, but there are promotions for those that go the extra mile.
“If you don’t want anyone to KNOW it, simply don’t DO IT” Chinese Proverb
Confessing or acknowledging our weaknesses, however, without action to change it doesn’t do us any good as well. It is just the starting place of victory. Many people will use their “weaknesses” for sympathy or as an excuse to stay in mediocrity. Judging one’s own self is far better than either trying to hide what we know is not perfected or pretending that we have no weaknesses. Employers are high on employees who show an overcoming progress and who prefer other employees.
“Weakness is nourished by concealment”. Latin Proverb
Now, probably one of the hardest things to deal with in this area is not US overcoming our weaknesses or just having knowledge of them; rather, it is having other people tell us of the weaknesses we see that we are not in agreement with. It’s one thing for ME to see my sins, but quite another for someone else to point them out. Worst of all is rebuke from one who themselves are full of vices. If you can take the persecutions, reproaches, and accusations with a grain of salt, try and find the truth in the midst of the thorns, and overcome your “thoughts of anger” then, you are on your way to a life that will produce good fruit. Weaknesses are learned without a master. We can model from others things that will bring shame and demotion; however, there are enough things in all of us that “come with the terri- tory” or are just a part of our nature (and not necessarily that of others).
“After one vice, a greater follows”. Spanish proverb
The employee who knows his or her weaknesses (overachiever or not) will not attempt something that is impossible. The person who knows their weaknesses and doesn’t hide them will be exalted by their humility. And, the person who knows their weaknesses and overcomes them , especially their interview weakness, will surely find PROMOTION!

Doubt whom you will but never yourself” C. N. Bovee
When you get down to it, something like ten percent of the people are CONFIDENT! But, one who is confident is neither too aggressive nor too passive, but rather, they are assertive! You have to monitor yourself regularly. YOU!
You don’t build self-confidence overnight. And you cannot be confident until you have associated with those that are! Lets look at the three descriptions in the above paragragh. Aggressive people have a tendency to run over people and not be compassionate to the less fortunate. They are usually so filled with their needs, dreams, and wants that they have little time for anything but SELF! They are truly confident and can be good employees if reputation and long term concepts are not important. In like fashion, passive people may get others to like them, they may build a hot list of clients, but never close any! In this competitive world the last thing you need is another “Dorothy Doormat“.
Learn to syneregize and build a team!
The assertive person is one who has an understanding of who they are, know where they are going, know why they are here; and therefore, know Christ (the one who made them). With that comes CONFIDENCE! When you know your product, know the answers to probable questions, can overcome objections honestly, and are offering good value for compensation required, you’ve got CONFIDENCE! Lack of product knowledge, lack of interpersonal skills, insecurity, and other personality weaknesses come from a “lack of confidence”.
Being enthusiastic isn’t all bed, nor all good. Balance!
Now, before the word CONFIDENCE, is the word DEMONSTRATED! In other words, you can SAY that you are confident but do your ACTIONS verify it? Confidence isn’t a mental concept only. It has been said that all things must be created twice! They must be created in the mental-visual abstract of the mind and then created in the natural-physical world. Confidence must be felt, sensed, and embraced and then acted out. It is the “acting out” or the demonstration that is most difficult. Courage and boldness “to do” are necessary for confidence to be demonstrated. In other words, RISK must be involved! The possibility of FAILURE must be ever present. Always be pressing for that competitive edge.
When you walk in the “confidence of the Lord”, failure and risk are not deterrents, but in all actuality, a chance to prove the sovereignty of the Lord. This does not mean that “Just Doing It” is easy but that once you have done it, your confidence is not in your actions but His! It’s very difficult to live in this world as a sales associate or manager-leader without knowing that your efforts are backed by a sovereign God.
Demonstrated confidence makes a way, gives you an EDGE and PROMOTES you!
“If once you forfeit the confidence of your fellow
citizen you can never regain their respect and esteem.” A.

All those months of preparation have paid off and you are raring to go. This is your chance to shine and get that dream job. Remember to always prepare well for an interview; you should never go for an interview without thorough preparation.
Here are the 5 steps to successful interview preparation:
1. Go through your resume - This seems like a pointless step, where you will say “I do not need to go through my resume, I made it and I know it verbatim”. But, it is always better to go through your resume and try to understand it from the point of view of the interviewer. What was it that attracted the attention of the interviewer for you to get an interview call? When you do this, you may understand what it is that the company is looking for and what it is expecting from you. This puts you at an advantage during the interview.
2. Go online again - The Internet is your best friend. It helped you create the perfect resume and perfect cover letters, now it will help you understand the company. Visit the company website and understand everything about the company and its activities. The more information about the company you have the better equipped you are for the interview.
3. Study and learn - Try to study and learn all that there is about the company. The more you know the better you are going to feel about going in for that interview. Knowledge is your best friend during an interview.
4. Rehearse - Ever heard anyone tell you to make a script for an interview? Well, making a script for an interview makes sense. It helps you rehearse the kind of questions that you know will be asked and you can rehearse the answers to give the best ones possible. You will be asked questions on your past positions and achievements. You will also be asked to describe your strengths and weaknesses, what can you bring in terms of skill to the workplace. These are the kind of questions you can prepare the answers to. You can ask a friend to rehearse with you and make the preparation for your big interview fun.
5. Prepare a list of questions - Most people think that when they go for an interview, they have to answer all the questions and ask none. This is a mistake. Most interviewers appreciate questions. This shows that you have prepared and researched before coming for the interview, and that the job is important for you. Do not ask questions like “How much will I get paid?” or “What benefits will I get?” first. Save these for later. Ask questions that are more position and company oriented. Ask those questions relevant to information given by the interviewer.
Preparing for an interview can be daunting - but by following the 5 steps above, you’ll be ahead of the game.

Most people do not believe in career management, they only believe in career damage control - which means when something goe’s wrong they will fix it. Until then, most people dont bother to manage their careers to prevent disasters from occurring in the first place.
Listed below are ten misconceptions with regard to career management:
1. Only the most qualified people get the job - This is simply not true. It does not matter how qualified you are for the job. What matters is the way you have presented yourself during the interview process. Qualifications are not the only criteria for getting good jobs, other things like dedication, confidence and attitude also matter.
2. No need to work at a career just because you have a job - This could be the biggest mistake you make - and quite possibly the most popular misconception. This way of thinking has potential for disaster. You never know when you may be downsized or laid off from your current job, and if you do not have a career plan then you are in serious trouble. Make sure that you spend some time on managing your career even if you have a job. Do small things like update your resume and network with your peers.
3. Professional education stopped after graduation - This cannot be further from the truth. You need to continuously work at your professional education to maintain a competitive edge. Read trade magazines, write articles for relevant magazines, attend seminars, and pursue certificate and training courses.
4. The most generous salary is always offered - This is not true. In fact most employers offer a low salary just to see your negotiation skills. This is an old trick of the trade, where the employers check to see whether the candidate has done sufficient research from every angle.
5. I have job Security if I perform well - This is not true, especially in an economy where downsizing, mergers and outsourcing seem to be the order of the day. No one has a secure job, no matter how well you do your job. You have to take a hands-on approach by managing your career properly to ensure security.
6. Only a resume is required - All job seekers need to have certain tools for job hunting and the resume is only one of these tools. Other tools include cover letters, references and so on.
7. Recruiters are sufficient for job searching - No, they are not. Yes, recruiters will help you and guide you in the best way possible, but you cannot leave it completely up to them to get you the best job. You have to be proactive and take charge in your job-hunting process.
8. Employers are responsible for defining career paths - No, employers aren’t responsible for anything except getting the job done. You are the only person who is responsible for getting your career on the right path and for defining the way you want your career to head.
9. No need to network - Networking is essential to every business and for every person. You as a career oriented person need to constantly network. It is one of the most important aspects of career management.
10. Jobs are easily identifiable - Most people think that jobs are posted on the Internet or advertised in newspapers. This also is not true. Only a small percentage of jobs are advertised in this manner. Most people identify jobs by networking.
By keeping in mind the above misconceptions, you can avoid them and keep your career on the right track!
