A professional HD video camera is one of the must-haves of avid filmmakers. These video cameras are the hottest item when it comes to the film-making or documentation industry. There are so many high definition camcorders in the market that are available but only a few are noteworthy. These are the:

- Canon XH-A1 HDV Camcorder, - Sony HDR-FX7 Camcorder, - JVC GYHD110U MiniDV Camcorder, and; - Panasonic AG-HVX200.

The Canon XH-A1 HDV Camcorder

This miniature version of the Canon XL H1 performs like its big brother, the Canon XLH1DV. It has a low light performance which is a good feature for a professional HD video camera. However, being small has its drawbacks. It has no lens interchangeability unlike the bigger version. Customers are somewhat skeptical with the 30F and 24F frame rates too but some are finding it easy to adjust to. It also has a bad eyecup design and is quite heavy for a video camera. Nevertheless, this is still good for ENGs, budget documentarians, student filmmakers.

The Sony HDR-FX7 Camcorder

The Sony FX7 is labeled as the company’s consumer camcorder. It has a clear VID CMOS sensors which make a fantastic impression in bright light. Under low light conditions, the performance disappointingly falls to pieces. It can however, omit XLR inputs and external audio level controls.

The JVC GYHD110U MiniDV Camcorder

This camcorder’s lens interchangeability and size is almost the same with the Canon XH-A1 HDV. It has a standard Fujinon 16x ProHD Lens. It comes with true progressive video at 720p but it doesn’t offer interlaced video recording options. The resolution is close to XH A1’s resolution. If you are the type of shooter who prefers larger camcorders and lens flexibility, buy a JVC GYHD110U.

Panasonic AG-HVX200

This camcorder uses the proprietary P2 tapeless recording system. It is able to record DVCPRO video DV tapes, but can only be recorded using Panasonic’s solid state P2 memory cards or an external DTE drive like non-tape media. By using the P2 Cards, you can record non-stop and reduce the tape transfer time because of the camcorders 2 swappable P2 slots. The camcorder relies on pixel shifting to raise the resolution of its 3 1/3 ” CCDs from 500k gross pixel count to a high definition resolution.

Different filmmakers have different professional HD video camera needs. The decision is yours to make. It is up to the aspiring filmmaker to decide which camera will cater to his or her needs more. Is the camera worth the price? That is for the filmmaker to judge.

People are very particular about the security of their surroundings. The world nowadays is becoming smaller, and it is also becoming more dangerous to live in. They want to make sure that their families, businesses and other confidential information and belongings be protected from unauthorized persons and other intruders.

Most people would invest in a Home Burglar Alarm system in order to protect themselves and their loved ones. But not all home burglar alarm systems are of the same standard. There are some who pretend to be experts in burglar alarm systems but are offering substandard, if not, fake equipment to make money and fool people. That is why one should check the Certificate for Having Home Burglar Alarm. In this way, one can assure himself that he/she has a professional quality home security system.

Choose only accredited home security systems. The system should be registered by FARS before it is put into use this is done for the safety of your family and your home. This is also to regulate the alarms in the neighborhood since they have a certain noise level limit as well as rules against false alarms.

With a properly accredited alarm, the government will be sure that only security systems that pass the standards they have set will be used in homes. If the home burglar alarm system that you have just installed doesn’t have their accreditation, it might mean that have not passed their standards. This might do more harm than good for the owner.

Check it for the following important accreditations. If they do not have this, you should get another one. This will save you lots of money and worry. These are:

1. NSI - The National Security Inspectorate 2. ICON - This is an approval scheme that is run by the National Security Inspectorate, or the NSI 3. NACOSS - The National Approval Council for Security Systems 4. SSAIB - Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board

With your certificate for having home burglar alarm, there are corresponding registrations fees also to be collected. This would amount to $30.00 and is non-refundable. If you have more than one alarm user and/or location, you should get a separate registration for it and pay the corresponding fees. This shall be renewed every 2 years, with a cost of $10.00 per renewal. If one fails to renew the certificate for having home burglar alarm during the required renewal period, he/she will pay a penalty of $100 per false alarm as well as they will receive no free false alarms.

It has even been featured on television and YouTube as one of the internet’s best kept secrets.

If you follow the steps below correctly, you’ll get your Free iPod Touch

Just Some Basic Rules… VERY, VERY, VERY IMPORTANT!!!

The ONLY reason people don’t get freebies from companies like these is because they scam the company in some way. DO NOT EVER do this! This includes, but is not limited to:

- having people from the same network (school/dorm room/workplace/house/library) signup on the same site!
- signing up and using fake registration information on the freebie site and for the “offer”
- using proxies to spawn fake referrals (ie. you creating multiple accounts under a different IP), or by signing up for the same site twice
- doing “offers” more than once — you can only do ONE offer ONCE, and NEVER do it again!
- allowing your referrals to check their account status on your computer, and vice-versa

To summarize: All you have to do is, just sign up once on the freebie site and for the “offer”, have your friends sign up from their own computers, and only have one account per household. Simple enough, right?

Bottom line: NEVER try to “beat the system” and scam the freebie companies!

Before doing an offer…

1. Use the Internet Explorer browser (do not risk other browsers as it’s known not to keep track properly) and change the settings so it accepts ALL cookies. Do not be afraid! Cookies are only used to track that you did the offer correctly AND for you to get credit. If you don’t get credit for doing the offer, this is the #1 reason why problems are caused.

2. Disable anti-popup/cookie blockers temporarily (you can re-enable them AFTER the offer is completed)

3. Read ALL the terms and requirements of the offer before signing up for the offer. Make sure you fully understand what’s required of you to get credit - whether it be signing up for a free trial subscription or ordering a free sample.

4. Keep track of the offer details (like in an Excel spreadsheet) that stores information like the name of the offer, price, credit time, what site you did it on, customer support details, etc. This information will remind you of what offers you did, so you NEVER repeat it again.

5. KEEP any confirmations that you did the offer, such as a screenshot or an email confirmation. If you don’t get credit soon, you’ll need it to get manual credit.

Spread the Word - refer friends to do the exact same thing!

Now that you did your offer (try to do this FIRST), you should refer as many friends as the reward needs. You’ll will find your referral link on your status page once you login, and on the same page you will see all your referrals who signed up under you as well.

There are TONS of ways to refer people. However, do so in methods that are not considered spam. If you’re reported to the site as a spammer, your account would be placed on hold - and no Free iPod Touch will be created for you!

When you give your link out to people make sure they follow the same instructions mentioned on this site. Might as well point them to this site instead of re-iterating what I said, right?

Suggestions to get referrals…

1. Get friends/family/relatives to signup under you. They could be ANYONE (outside of your household or workplace or dorm room or library - basically, NO PUBLIC network) !!! They could even be your co-workers, boyfriend/girlfriend, teacher/professor, etc. This is, by far, the fastest and most reassuring way to get your Free iPod Touch faster!

2. Go to some forums, and if it isn’t considered spam, post your link there. You could even place a link in your sig (aka. signature) to the freebie site where it is usually allowed.

3. Make a blog like this (DO NOT copy my site though) and post your link, or if you have a website, post it there!

4. Be creative! Try this…

- Prove to your friends that this system ain’t a scam and complete your offer immediately! This way you can tell your referrals which offer you did, how much it cost you , and how quick and easy it really was.

- Although I wouldn’t suggest it, perhaps bribe your referrals in some way ;)

- Buy your referral a lunch or a treat as a “thank you” for helping you out.

-> Just remember to tell your referrals how all this works just like how I explained it to you. I can assure and guarantee you that any “open-minded” person will take you up on this opportunity to get a Free iPod Touch when they really isn’t any risk whatsoever! This has been proven legit system worldwide and you can point them to the TONS of proof readily available on Transcendent’s site.

Enjoy your Free iPod Touch !

Now that you’ve done all the requirements (ie. you signed up via the above link, did your offer and got credit, and got the required referrals and they got credit for their offer too), your account will be verified for any cases of fraud. If you legitimately tried to complete the site and did not scam them in any way, you will be guaranteed a Free iPod Touch , for the freebie company are required to give you one!

After your account is approved, your order for a Free iPod Touch will be placed, and as soon as the iPod Touch is shipped, you will receive it on your doorstep - you don’t even pay any shipping/handling fees! That is covered in your Free iPod Touch deal too! You can then enjoy using the best touch-screen iPod ever, or sell it for TONS (and I mean that, since you got it for free) of profit on eBay!

New innovations have radically changed the way people around the world perceive the concept of entertainment. Be it cinema or music system, mp3 players or television, people are constantly adopting new ways of entertainment, jettisoning the old ones. Technology changes always. You can`t stop the advancement in technology. There is some advancement in terms of technology in everyday things like cell phones, calculators, computer monitors, and televisions, too.

The latest version of television is Liquid Crystal Display Television or LCD TV. Old model tube (CRT) TVs are large and bulky. They need a lot of space for placing it. During the early 2000`s LCD flat panels started ruling over the television market from the typical CRTs.

LCD TV is a flat screen television which needs less space for placing. They are slim, lighter, and hardly goes beyond 3.5 inch in thickness. They have a very trendy look which draws attention of others. The technology has penetrated our everyday lives. But how does it work? Basically, a very large amount of tiny liquid crystals are held between two electrodes. When a charge is passed between the tiny liquid crystals they react to the change. This reaction emits light which creates an image that we can viewed on the screen of the television.

Usually LCD TVs are cheaper as compared to Plasma models. However, when it comes to large screen size, plasma TV is sold for better prices. If you compare with the CRT tube TVs, then the price is a little higher, no matter the screen size.

The screen lifespan of Plasma and LCD TVs should not be an important way to differentiate them. Plasma TV have a reported half-life of 30,000 to 60,000 hours. While the average tube (CRT) TV set has a half-life of around 25,000 hours. LCD TV can be installed on your own where as you have to depend on an expert to install a plasma TV. The best part of LCD TV is that it draws only about 60% of the power consumed by plasma displays. You are also protected from harmful electromagnetic waves while using it.

LCD TVs have certain minor drawbacks too, with restricted viewing angle and limited contrast ratio. They have graying effects on the screen which deteriorates the clarity of the image, mainly the color factor. The viewing angle of an LCD TV is up to 160 degrees, where as the viewing angle of plasma TV is up to 170 degrees.

The right LCD TV screen placement is a very important point to consider. Sitting the right distance from your TV set optimizes your viewing experience. Also for the viewing height, your eyes should level with the middle of the screen, since the LCD image picture will look its brightest as this level.

LCD TVs may often look better in `real-world` situations, as they reflect very little light, enabling them to keep levels in well-lit rooms. This way, LCD TVs will usually meet the brightness expectations of most customers.

Technology has brought many interesting products in recent years. One of them was the LCD TV. For those who love indoor entertainment, like watching TV, look no further. LCD TV will provide one of the best viewing experiences.

Microsoft recently introduced its latest project - The Origami. I know, I know..origami is the ancient art of paper folding. So what has this name got to do with Microsoft latest component? Nothing - so it is being changed to Ultramobile PC. It seems that after a lengthy period of guessing, advertising, and speculating, their newest innovation is a portable computing device capable of running Windows XP and other Windows software.

Origami is a combination of advanced media and computer technology that avails both laptop and portable media player abilities and has the potential to become quite a unique option for consumers with its slim, small, notebook appearance - without an accompanying keyboard. It is ultra compact with a touch screen and wireless connectivity. Its sensitive screen responds readily to a tap of the finger or a stylus. Spring will bring two models of Origami - named Ultramobile PC to the market weighing about 2 ½ pounds, an inch or so thick, and being about the size of a large book. Plans are for Ultramobile PC to run a full version of Windows XP and newly developed software for the touchscreen function. Microsoft announced that the Ultramobile PC creates new possibilities for personal computer use. The hardware, developed but not manufactured by Microsoft, has had input in both the design and manufacture of software from its inception. The key concept is to combine the best of Windows Pc and wireless electronic media devices. The screen is wide with easy to see characters and bright enough for good acuity even in dimly lit surroundings. This new device will also have 2 USB ports enabling it to be connected to an outlet if necessary and other features of jacks for connecting digital cameras, headphones, speakers, and card slots. It also has a feature of a builtin onscreen split keyboard that allows input to be typed or ‘fingered’ in. It has a 60 GB capacity with a battery average of 2 to 3 hours. This device is ideal for commuters and others on the go who want to use their PC but don’t want to carry heavy and awkward equipment. Although it is a bit larger than an Ipod or a MP3 player, it does play stored music and display photos and acts as a video device showing films and television shows.

One wonders, though, whether Microsoft really thought through their marketing plan because at present, Ultramobile PC appears to be another, somewhat larger, version of Ipod, PDA, and other popular devices. Many media reporters and technophiles believe this project to be less than compelling. One expressed opinion was that while it is not small enough to be considered a pocket device, it is small enough to be kept close and is empowered to perform a variety of tasks - games, productivity, and media consumption - a combination of Playstation gaming, PC, and Ipod. This new wonder is expected to retail for between $600 to $1000.

Research and development continue in these areas, and consumers are sure to be seeing more and more useful software for improving the uses and functions of the Ultramobile PC - the Origami.

Picking The Best Slide Scanning Service

Monday
Mar 31,2008

Author: Phoenix Delray.

Simply defined, a digital image is any image taken from a computer, scanner, or digital camera. Digital cameras create these images using a CCD chip, which is composed of many small light sensitive cells arranged to divide the pictures into rows and columns of smaller sub areas, and scanners function almost the same way. Slide scanners contain one row of light sensitive cells, and a motor that moves the row down the slide, creating columns that form the total image grid.

Why Is It Better To Scan Slides As Opposed To Scanning Prints?

Scanning film and film slides, generally speaking, produces higher quality images than simply scanning prints. The main reason for this is because scanning the film or slide is, in a sense, using the original image to make a copy, while an already developed print is more of a second generation copy, which will in turn produce a third generation copy once it is scanned.

Film also contains greater detail and contrast, since most film is capable of at least 3,000 dpi, compared to 300 dpi for color photo paper. A film scanner allows for enough quality image pixels to be scanned, as opposed to a standard type of scanner, and thus can produce more detailed, higher quality images, particularly when it comes to creating larger sized prints.

Scanning Slides
When it comes to your precious memories, it makes sense to trust a professional slide scanning service, but there may be times when you want to scan some of your slides on your own, and if so, here are some tips to help you insure optimal results:

1. Make sure that you own a printer with slide scanning ability, and if not, scanners can be purchased online or through office and electronics store.

2. Make sure that any software that was included with your scanner is installed, and that all of your electronic components have been properly calibrated. Keep in mind that scanning slides manually can take a long time, generally three to four minutes per slide.

3. Create a folder for each set of images that you want to scan. You can create folders based on category, occasion, the name of a person, or any other identifier you choose. Make sure that you have pressed the correct button for either color or black and white images, and be sure that you are scanning the correct side of the slide. This can be confusing, and depending on the slide scanner that you are using, paying attention to the orientation of the slide is one way to help make sure you are scanning correctly.

4. Carefully stack your slides on one side of your scanner, making sure not to stack them too close to the edge of your table or desk. With a flatbed scanner, it is usually possible to load multiple slides at once. With a specially designed film scanner, you will probably have to load and scan each slide one by one.

5. Always crop your photos before scanning, via your scanner preview mode. This is very important, since most people make the mistake of cropping their originals instead.

6. Enable Auto focus mode before scanning.

Keep in mind that slide scanning is an often complicated process and that it may take a few attempts before you are able to achieve optimal results.

For the fastest and most accurate drilling the drill press is what you should look for (though it is not portable still it serves a lot of purpose). Due to its versatility to complete numerous jobs this tool has become an essential item on floor of any shop.
The working of a drill press is quite simple. It uses a fixed drilling head positioned above moveable workbench. Throat capacity is important as it measures the size of the workable area. The throat capacity is the distance between the bit and the rear of the workbench.

The size of a press is determined by the distance the drill bit is from the column, a 12″ press would be capable of drilling a hole in the center of a 12″ disk. Looking back at its history we find out that these tools were originally designed as a metal-working tool, but are now commonly used to work with a variety of materials.

One important part of this tool is the keyed chuck, there are three holes around the chuck that the key fits into, to prevent a bit from slipping after tightening the bit move to the next hole and tighten again, then move to the third hole and tighten again. Accessories are available that allow the Press to complete a wide array of day to day jobs.

These include performing as sanding drums, rotary planners, hole saws and mortising equipment. The best part of this equipment is its torque which is incomparable with the portable counterpart. Another plus for it is apart from its changing role as a sanding drum, it is absolutely designed for making holes. And you can count on it with closed eyes as it handles the job with precision with repeatable accuracy and control that’s impossible to maintain with a portable tool.

This equipment has been modified to serve different purposes. The most common presses available in the market are Bench Top model (mount directly to a workbench or on their own stands. Their compact size makes bench-top models good choices for small shops), Floor Model (usually have more powerful motors, more attachments/accessories and greater material handling capacities than bench-tops.

The extra versatility makes floor models good choices for serious DIY and commercial shops), Radial Drill Press (have a movable spindle that can be adjusted to the work. This type of machine is convenient to use on large and heavy work or where many holes are to be drilled since the work does not have to be readjusted for each hole) and Portable Drill Press (yield the least power, but are convenient for small jobs and travel. For someone without a functioning wood shop, this tool can be necessary).

While operating on any mechanical tool like this one your first priority should be safety. Always abide these methods for complete safety while you work. Always wear eye protection while working on the floor. Run your tools at correct cutting speeds.

Use a vise or clamp for handling small material. Remove waste chips with a brush and never by hand. Slow down on the pressure applied as bit breaks through material. Never drill with too much pressure, if the bit is dull sharpen or replace it. If drill binds, shut off machine, turn chuck backwards by hand to free bit. When drilling deep holes withdraw drill to clear chips frequently. Remove drill chuck key immediately after using. Keep floor area around tool clear

The Importance Of Technology News

Monday
Mar 31,2008

Author: Thomas Pretty.

The importance of technology cannot be underestimated; the technological industries are probably the fastest moving in the world following news stories is vital because technology can cover all manner of industries and hence news stories vary greatly in subject matter.

In today’s high tech world it is unsurprising that so many areas of commerce and life depend upon technology and subsequently, any news in these fields is of vital importance to even the lay reader. Technology news is so important that many news websites have created dedicated pages purely to report on technological developments.

Naturally industries such as computing and video gaming are heavily interested in the developments reported as part of technology news stories. In computing new processor chips as well as other developments are always followed closely to assess the power of future computers. The same can be said for the video games industry that constantly uses technology news stories to keep an eye on what competitors are doing.

Not only can news in this industry contain technological developments but sales figures and levels of worldwide sales of consoles or games. Another essential element of news in the gaming industry is to see which games are being banned and heavily policed by regulators as this can help developers gain a good idea of where the boundaries lay in game development.

There are industries that rely on the technology news pages that may surprise some people; the medical industry relies heavily on technical developments to advance forms of diagnosis and treatment. A recent story on students using consoles to increase their dexterity before surgery was a news article that provided a unique insight into the medical world.

Surprisingly sports are becoming increasingly reliant upon technology to increase their efficiency and skill levels; in cricket it is believed that some players where GPS systems that reveal the amount of running a specific player does during a match and hence alter his training scheme accordingly.

The importance of technology in communications is probably where news is most important. As one of the fastest developing industries in the world, communications has the potential to change our lives unimaginably. Already the mobile phone has revolutionised the way we live and communicate and hence many want to be well informed when a new technology arrives. Next generation phones with full mobile internet as well as GPS navigation systems are at the forefront of the mobile phone industry meaning enthusiasts as well as industry commentators are glued to news stories as they role off the presses.

Other developments reported in the technology news pages include information on the interfaces we use to interact with our various pieces of technology. Recent stories have included reports of headsets that allow users to control game characters through emotions and facial expressions as well as the ability to move items cognitively in a virtual world. Outside of the gaming sphere the rumours of a ‘3D internet’ are rife as increasing progress is made in the way we interact with technology.

Developments include ways in which technology may change our home lives. With news stories reporting of fridges that can automatically order food as it runs out, self cleaning ovens and vacuum cleaners that will clean the house without the lifting of the finger. If you believe all the news stories have to say, in the future we will be living in a world without manual labour.

Everyone should have a passing interest in technological developments as eventually they may change everyone’s lives for the better. Granted some of the technology news stories can be too detailed for the lay reader to enjoy but if the stories are written from a general interest perspective, all should be entertained and educated about technology that may one day change the world.

Rapid prototyping technology or RP refers to the automated construction of prototypes. Usually, the process involves, a computer aided design, which is fed into a machine, which is in turn transformed into a physical, 3D model through an automated mechanical process.

Although the term rapid is relative, the reason why the term is used in this process is because prior to this invention, prototypes were produced longer and with more difficulty. Not to mention that in the past, automated prototyping were limited to certain manufacturing industries. Now with rapid prototyping technology in place, a much wider application of the process is utilized, including the medical industry.

Rapid medical prototyping technology is used for things such as prototypes for medical devices and models such as anatomical parts for medical applications. Basically, what rapid prototyping in the medical industry does is that it provides the innovative avenue for doctors and medical designers as well as patients, generate a physical representation of their design so that they can test its usability.

Of course because these rapid prototypes will be used for the medical industry, it is important to contract a prototyping solutions provider that is quick and reliable and who will only use FDA approved materials. You will also want a prototyping solutions provider who you can trust with confidential information.

What has to be the most exciting contribution of rapid prototyping in the medical industry is the fact that RP technology has gone beyond providing sample models so that doctors and patients can test the shape and feel of these products. Now, through rapid medical prototyping, models of human bone, tissue and other anatomical parts are available for use by surgeons to study strategies for complex surgery.

The rapid prototyping technology used for the medical industry is relatively new. This is why there are many new and exciting discoveries for applications of this RP technology. It is definitely revolutionizing the way medicine is practiced. These medical prototypes are helping medical practitioners to be of better service to patients without the long turn over or risks in experimentation.

Having actual prototypes of anatomical parts help not only doctors to better understand and discuss strategies, but it also helps for doctors in explaining complex procedures to their patients with the use of these aids. While 3D computer images used to in the actual prototypes place, there is no doubt that rapid prototyping in the medical industry has given more depth to the practice.

In the recent past, it was considered a medical breakthrough for doctors and surgeons to be able to make use of accurate 3D computer images to simulate complex surgical procedures or physical processes. Now though, with the continuous developments in the field of medical device prototyping, these 3D computer images are now fabricated into actual models to replicate the complexity of the virtual images. This means that now, doctors and surgeons can study and simulate complex surgical procedures without having to risk using a live physical being or be limited by virtual images on a screen.

No matter how life like and realistic these 3D computer images are, nothing beats the experience of being able to work with something concrete. This has made medical device prototyping a truly remarkable procedure that has revolutionized the medical industry.

At the onset, medical prototyping was used to build models of medical products and instruments. However, with more people using the technology and with continuous developments in this area, medical practitioners have begun to realize other possible applications for this technology.

Now, more and more complex medical device prototyping is utilized to fabricate models for cadavers that can be used in training medical students. With the proper materials, these prototypes can be used over and over again, or at least for a prolonged period of time.
Medical device prototyping is not only for educating medical students.

Expert surgeons also benefit from this technology through the use of prototypes to model and simulate complex bone and tissue connections and systems so that they can further study and examine how best to go through a medical procedure. These medical device prototypes are made to simulate actual anatomical reactions to that if for instance, an incision is made on the anatomical prototype, blood like substances can ooze from it to simulate a real incision on real human flesh.

There are many types of prototype service providers that provide medical device prototyping. With more and more competition among these providers, the medical industry can be assured of more competitive prices, practices and services which in the end, benefit society as a whole.

Generally, prototyping is used to determine if a design is effective or if it can really perform the functions it was made to do.

The same goes with software prototyping. In prototyping software the creators of the program make an unfinished model of the program available to consumers. The creators let their potential clients test the software and allow them to evaluate how well it works.

Because of the generated feedback, designers can alter the software even before they began to release the full version. This would be more economical to the creators rather than releasing the full version now and then patching up the software’s inconsistencies later.

It would also help designers save face in case the software failed to leave up to consumers’ expectations. It is a fact that consumers know more than anybody else about problems that could be encountered in using the software.

So any form of feedback from them early on in the project could be valuable in the program’s performance. Through the feedback from prototyping, determining at first hand what the consumers really want can lead developers in creating a faster and cheaper software.

Improved and increased user involvement: Protoptyping requires user involvement and allows them to see and interact with a prototype allowing them to provide better and more complete feedback and specifications.

The presence of the protoype being examined by the user prevents many misunderstandings and miscommunications that occur when each side believe the other understands what they said.

Since users know the problem domain better than anyone on the development team does, increased interaction can result in final product that has greater tangible and intangible quality. The final product is more likely to be satisfy the users desire for look, feel and performance.

However, when not used properly, software prototyping might be detrimental to the development of the whole program itself. Developers might be too focused on creating a prototype that they become remiss on their job to make the full version of the software. Consumers might also think that the prototype is the real thing and might inaccurately evaluate the product by having too much expectation.

Also, developers might spend a great deal of time creating a prototype. A prototype is supposed to be created quickly and if it takes too long for the developers to make one, it might become too costly for the whole project. Plus, additional expense can be incurred on creating a separate team to develop the prototype.

Creating programs and websites, software, and even hardware, entails careful consideration in terms of its user interface. Sometimes, in the planning stages of these programs, we get caught up in the big picture and are unable to foresee certain details that affect how our programs will pan out in a step by step manner.

The traditional way to develop programs is to build a prototype and test it. It would be fortunate if after testing, you will only have to do some minor revisions, if at all. The problem arises when you find out that your program has a user problem, which will entail for you to trash most of your hard work to solve the obstacle.

To help programmers and users, a user testing method called paper prototyping has been popularized by many top technology brands that boast of programs and hardware that are very user friendly.

The main difference of paper prototyping and regular prototypes is that paper prototyping utilizes paper as the medium to plot out programs. The method of prototyping is usually best conducted like a focused group discussion where paper prototypes are employed to simulate the program to be developed.

With paper prototyping, you can either utilize printouts of your wire frames or hand sketch your designs. You can even use a combination of both. Prototyping experts say that paper, scissors, glue and sticky paper are a must during the paper prototyping process.

These materials are made to simulate your programs so that through the interactive process of going through the paper prototype, you can find out if your product ranks high on usability. This paper prototyping process also saves you time and effort because it allows you outsider insight on your product, way before you even begin to actually build it. With this method of testing for usability, you will never have to “go back to the drawing boards” because you won’t leave the drawing phase until all kinks are ironed out.

This method of testing is particularly useful for the production of websites, programs, and software for use in a personal computer or a mobile phone interface. You can learn a lot of valuable lessons from paper prototyping. For instance, if in your paper prototype, you find that the users testing the mock up tends to click a particular feature which was not designed to be a link, then you know that it should actually be one.

Paper prototyping can save you a lot of time, effort and cost at the planning stage, even before you begin to write codes or start building.
