Doubt whom you will but never yourself” C. N. Bovee

When you get down to it, something like ten percent of the people are CONFIDENT! But, one who is confident is neither too aggressive nor too passive, but rather, they are assertive! You have to monitor yourself regularly. YOU!

You don’t build self-confidence overnight. And you cannot be confident until you have associated with those that are! Lets look at the three descriptions in the above paragragh. Aggressive people have a tendency to run over people and not be compassionate to the less fortunate. They are usually so filled with their needs, dreams, and wants that they have little time for anything but SELF! They are truly confident and can be good employees if reputation and long term concepts are not important. In like fashion, passive people may get others to like them, they may build a hot list of clients, but never close any! In this competitive world the last thing you need is another “Dorothy Doormat“.

The assertive person is one who has an understanding of who they are, know where they are going, know why they are here; and therefore, know Christ (the one who made them). With that comes CONFIDENCE! When you know your product, know the answers to probable questions, can overcome objections honestly, and are offering good value for compensation required, you’ve got CONFIDENCE! Lack of product knowledge, lack of interpersonal skills, insecurity, and other personality weaknesses come from a “lack of confidence”.

Being enthusiastic isn’t all bed, nor all good. Balance!

Now, before the word CONFIDENCE, is the word DEMONSTRATED! In other words, you can SAY that you are confident but do your ACTIONS verify it? Confidence isn’t a mental concept only. It has been said that all things must be created twice! They must be created in the mental-visual abstract of the mind and then created in the natural-physical world. Confidence must be felt, sensed, and embraced and then acted out. It is the “acting out” or the demonstration that is most difficult. Courage and boldness “to do” are necessary for confidence to be demonstrated. In other words, RISK must be involved! The possibility of FAILURE must be ever present. Always be pressing for that competitive edge.

When you walk in the “confidence of the Lord”, failure and risk are not deterrents, but in all actuality, a chance to prove the sovereignty of the Lord. This does not mean that “Just Doing It” is easy but that once you have done it, your confidence is not in your actions but His! It’s very difficult to live in this world as a sales associate or manager-leader without knowing that your efforts are backed by a sovereign God.

Demonstrated confidence makes a way, gives you an EDGE and PROMOTES you!

citizen you can never regain their respect and esteem.” A.
